Sunday May 15th

We all slept great! There was a band for a little while, and a couple hoots, but nothing like we thought we might hear..
iPhone charged and ready to go, I started planning our day:
breakfast
drive by of Genesis & Next Apartment (which is literally a block away from our VERY nice Y)
YMCA membership sign-up
Wal-Mart for Brett's new haircut! YES I typed that right (A-show dad!!!)
then out to our rustic cabin.
In Davenport, IA 53rd St = 28th St in Grand Rapids! Kimberly Rd is like 29th St,
AND I FOUND 2 STARBUCKS!!!!!!!!! :)

Brett swore he looked just like the dumb & dumber character played by jim carey, b/c his bangs are straight across. LOL! they are, but it looks great, it's all trimmed up and very neat for a professional start Monday morning. (pics will come)

After we wrapped all the events in town up, it was off to the country side - rustic cabin bound
Corn Fields, Cow and Crows were as far as the road goes, we were dumped off on dirt for about 1/2 mile back to the Wapsi River Educational Center. It was so pretty back there. We went from rolling corn fields as far as the eye could see then right into the woods.

It took about 30mins from davenport to Wapsi.
I lost phone service pulling into the long drive. These were my 1st clues we were in trouble.
Brett laid on the queen mattress, took in the yellow lighted bathroom, and couldn't get over the smell. Not to mention we would have no phone/internet service unless we drove 10/30mins south.

I have 2 on-line classes, a Y-membership 30mins away, Genesis was 40mins, and one car. This was not going to work. We walked a trail down to the river & I was so upset that I would not be secluded here. Personally, I loved the place. I was like camp only better, we had pots, pans, popcorn maker, coffee pot & soooo much more. I was planning morning hikes with E, painting outside, taking in the outdoors for a while. We've been in a small city apt for 2 years now, it smelled so good out there (in the woods, not so much in the cabin)

 

 

SO, Brett packed the bikes back on top of the car (we had taken a good 1-1.5hrs to decide it wouldn't work)

It was onward to Eldrige, IA, just 8-10mins from Genesis. We pulled into a Quality Inn just to check their rates. I called the casino back b/c it was so nice & Hotwire was advertising a VERY sweet 1week stay deal.

LONG story short we are in the Quality Inn and Suites in Eldridge, IA with free Wi-Fi, real waffle breakfasts, refrigerator, etc... for a few dollars more per/day than the cabin would have been.
