Sunday Aug21st

We woke up and made fruit shakes. Then Brett prepped our bike gear and we all headed out to the White Pine Trail head in Cadillac. The 40 is only a few quick miles around the lake from the trail. VERY convenient!! No loading/unloading GREAT!

After that we came back and got ready to go back up north. Brett found the wind to be blowing way up in Leelanau State Park.
SO, we drove all the way to the tip of the peninsula and found a big storm rolling in and a rocky and weedy lakeshore. NOT good for kiting at all!!!! The storm was so strong over the water that the islands were invisible covered by the dark rain.

can you see the duck/bird head?
So we decided to just play in the water & walk around since we drove all the way here. They have GREAT camping spots.

We sat down to eat some lunch and the dark clouds were coming closer. The rain never actually hit us, but we drove south just to be sure. Dark clouds were all around, so we went all the way back to our TC park.

There was a great site unfolding as we watched the North get drenched and hit with awesome bolts of lightning. We sat on the beach watching and monitoring lighting. E was playing in the water, so Brett was making sure she stayed out when the storm was rolling thru.

this was toss mom & dad's shoes in the water game

WE also saw two para-sailers get lifted up for a ride. The winds picked up so strong that the boat just stopped. The lightning was still cracking just behind them and watching this go on was a bit horrifying. As they crossed the middle of the bay the boat started to pull them in. THANK GOODNESS!!!

lightning was striking throughout the bay!

We were finishing up there and Brett decided he really wanted to visit the Right Brain Brewery. E was NOT as excited. I chased her around the hallways while Brett tasted a couple brews.

It was time to go back to Cadillac & E was definitely worn out from her day.

At the 40 we snacked on egg sandwiches and fruit. We were going to have a small bon fire, but the bugs were swarming! So we shut it down and headed in for bed.
